CLINICAL PILATES SYDNEY

Clinical exercise sessions are a total body-conditioning program involving exercises that improve your posture, strength, flexibility, balance, and co-ordination. The different pieces of equipment Reformer, Cadillac (Trapeze Table) Stability Chair, Spine Corrector and Ladder Barrel together with the Mat and Small equipment allow the body to be exercised in a number of different ways.

By assisting or resisting movement in single or multi-directional patterns we can re-educate postural awareness and develop a muscular core or center with co-ordinated upper and lower body muscles that are both flexible and strong.

Our Physiotherapists are skilled in a clinical approach as an ideal way to rehabilitate clients from injury to normal function and will tailor your program needs at each session.

Is Pilates for me?

Pilates informed exercise prescription does not build bulk but strengthens weak muscles and stretches tight ones. It is suitable for people of all ages – everyone can achieve wellness. This is done by carrying out safe and gentle, though demanding exercises. The whole process is challenging and stimulating with each graduated exercise becoming more powerful. Pilates informed exercise sessions are an excellent preventative technique that will strengthen your body against injury.

Whether you need to:

  • strengthen and balance the body after injury
  • relieve chronic pain
  • enhance performance
  • prevent sports injuries or
  •  simply to improve posture.

We can tailor a program to your specific needs. Pilates informed exercise programs are adapted to an individual’s needs, level of fitness and personal goals.

How do I get started with Active Physio – Pilates

Individual Programs

At Sports Focus Physiotherapy and Pilates Studio, we offer individually designed physiotherapy programs to identify your goals and this is achieved by a full musculoskeletal assessment, including:

  • Introduction to modified Pilates informed exercises as a part of your  ACTIVE PHYSIO – PILATES exercise program.
  • Education in the anatomy of the deep Transverse Abdominal, Pelvic floor and Multifidus muscles.
  • Three private follow up sessions with a physiotherapist to ensure you understand the principles of postural awareness, effective breathing, deep abdominal and pelvic control, concentration and integrated flowing movement.

Once you have completed your personal introduction to your ACTIVE PHYSIO – PILATES exercise program, you will continue with one-hour group sessions. These sessions use a full range of equipment, tailored together with your specific program.
